Day One: Ulaanbaatar
Upon landing in Ulaanbaatar, you will be met at the airport and transferred to a centrally located hotel near Chinggis Khaan Square. After settling in, you’ll have time to explore the city at your own pace or simply relax before the adventure ahead. In the afternoon, you will get acquainted with your riding gear, ensuring a proper fit for comfort and safety. A thorough safety briefing will provide essential information to prepare you for the journey. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner—a perfect opportunity to meet fellow riders, share expectations, and soak in the anticipation of the adventure to come. Rest well, as an early departure awaits, marking the beginning of an unforgettable journey across Mongolia’s vast and breathtaking landscapes.
Day Two: Moltsog Els Tourist Camp (91KM Mostly Off-Road)
In the morning, we head east into the Mongolian steppe, getting familiar with the terrain and settling into the rhythm of the ride. The route takes us through open plains and sandy tracks, offering a good introduction to the journey ahead. By evening, we arrive at Moltsog Els Tourist Camp, located near Hustai National Park. The camp offers traditional ger accommodations equipped with western-style hot showers and restrooms. After a day of riding, enjoy a meal at the camp's restaurant before resting for the next day's ride.
Day Three: Ogiy Lake (240KM Asphalted Road)
Today, we ride to Ögii Lake, a freshwater lake in eastern Arkhangai Province known for its fish population and diverse birdlife. As a designated Ramsar Site, it serves as an important stopover for migrating waterbirds, particularly those of the Anatidae family. Nearly half of the lake is shallow, with a maximum depth of around 15 meters, making it a rich habitat for wildlife. The surrounding area is home to several nomadic families living in traditional gers. Upon arrival, we settle into a tourist camp, where we have the opportunity to rest, enjoy a meal, and take in the peaceful lakeside setting. The evening offers time to relax, explore the shoreline, and observe the birds that frequent the area before settling in for the night.
Day Four: Tsagaan Sum Hot Springs (130KM Off-Road)
Today's journey takes us deeper into the Mongolian countryside as we ride off-road to reach the Tsagaan Sum Hot Springs, located in the Arkhangai province. These springs are part of a network of thermal waters in the region, including the well-known Tsenkher Hot Springs. The mineral-rich waters of Tsagaan Sum are believed to offer therapeutic benefits, particularly for joint pain and skin conditions. Upon arrival, we settle into a nearby tourist camp, where we can relax and rejuvenate in the soothing hot springs. The camp provides traditional ger accommodations and meals, offering a comfortable respite after the day's ride. Enjoy the serene surroundings and the warmth of the springs as we prepare for the adventures ahead.
Day Five: Tövkhön Monastery and Orkhon Waterfall (60KM Off-Road)
We begin the day with a ride to the base of Shireet Ulaan Uul Mountain, where Tövkhön Monastery is located, a spiritual site founded in 1653 by Zanabazar, the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu. Zanabazar built the monastery as a retreat for meditation and artistic work, and it is famous for its historical and cultural significance, including the creation of the Soyombo script. The climb to the monastery takes around two hours, though horseback riding is an option for those who prefer a gentler ascent. Afterward, we continue our journey along the Orkhon River, passing through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Orkhon Valley. Our final destination for the day is the stunning Orkhon Waterfall, also known as Ulaan Tsutgalan, a 20-meter-high waterfall that marks one of Mongolia's most picturesque natural landmarks. In the evening, we rest at a nearby tourist camp, enjoying a warm meal and reflecting on the day’s experiences.
Day Six: Karakorum and Erdene Zuu Monastery (100KM Off-Road)
Today, we take an easy drive to Karakorum, the historic capital of the Mongolian Unified Empire established in the 13th century. Once the heart of the Mongol Empire under Genghis Khan, Karakorum is steeped in history and offers a glimpse into Mongolia's grand past. Our main stop is the Erdene Zuu Monastery, built in 1586, which stands as one of Mongolia’s most significant Buddhist sites. The monastery is remarkable not only for its historical value but also for its unique construction—built entirely without the use of nails. After exploring the monastery and surrounding area, we settle in a guesthouse for the night, resting comfortably before the next day’s adventure.
Day Seven: Naadam Festival in Kharkhorin
Today is dedicated to the vibrant Naadam Festival in Kharkhorin, offering an authentic experience of one of Mongolia’s most important cultural events. We’ll have the chance to witness thrilling horse races, where the riders—often as young as ten years old—demonstrate their impressive skills. The festival also features traditional wrestling matches and archery competitions, which are integral parts of the celebration. This Naadam offers a much more local, traditional atmosphere compared to the larger celebration in Ulaanbaatar. For those feeling adventurous, there’s even the opportunity to try your hand at wrestling, but be warned—these competitors are skilled! Enjoy the day’s festivities and immerse yourself in Mongolia’s rich cultural heritage.
Day Eight: Khogno Khan (100KM Off-Road)
Today, we embark on a relatively easy ride to Khogno Khan, starting with a complimentary breakfast at the tourist camp. The journey is mostly along well-maintained asphalt roads, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride. Our destination, Khogno Khan, is often called the "little Gobi" because of its sandy landscapes and unique microclimate that mirror the Gobi Desert. Upon arrival, you'll have time to explore this picturesque region, with its striking desert-like terrain and diverse natural beauty that perfectly captures the essence of Mongolia. In the evening, we enjoy a meal and rest at a nearby tourist camp, surrounded by the stunning landscapes.
Day Nine: River Side Undurshireet (135KM Mixed Roads)
After a satisfying breakfast, we leave the "little Gobi" behind and set off on an asphalt road toward the village of Erdenesant. From there, we take a scenic track that winds through magnificent landscapes, eventually leading us to the edge of the Tuul River. The journey covers a mix of roads, offering a varied and exciting ride as we take in the beauty of the surroundings. Upon arrival, we rest at a tourist camp located by the river, where we can enjoy a warm meal and relax after the day’s adventure.
Day Ten: Ulaanbaatar (150KM Asphalted Road)
Today marks the journey back to Ulaanbaatar. After a final breakfast at the camp, we set off for the 150 km ride back to the city, reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past days. The route is smooth and provides time to relax as we approach the capital. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind and enjoy a bit of free time before concluding the adventure.
Day Eleven: Departure
For those with a late flight, you have the day free to explore Ulaanbaatar. The city has a unique vibe, combining modern life with traditional culture. You can relax, visit local sights, or enjoy the city at your own pace. A taxi will take you to the airport for your flight, and our services will conclude.
