This trekking tour takes you through the rugged landscapes of the High Tatras, offering breathtaking mountain scenery and an immersive hiking experience. Over several days, you will trek through alpine terrain, staying in traditional mountain huts along the way. A multilingual guide will lead the group, providing support and insights into the region’s history, wildlife, and geography. Daily hikes vary in difficulty and length, with some steep and rocky sections requiring good fitness and sure-footedness. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, so participants should be prepared for a range of conditions. The tour concludes with a final night in Vysoké Tatry, providing a chance to rest before departure.

What to Pack

Packing light is essential, as participants will need to carry their own gear during the trek. Sturdy hiking boots with good grip are necessary for the mountain terrain, along with a waterproof jacket and an insulation layer for changing weather conditions. Comfortable hiking clothing, gloves, and headwear will help with temperature variations. A small backpack (25-30L) is required for daily essentials, including a water bottle, snacks, and sunscreen. Trekking poles can be useful for stability on steeper sections. A sleeping liner is recommended for the huts, as well as a headlamp and basic toiletries. Phone signal and internet access will be limited, so travellers should prepare for minimal connectivity. Carrying some cash is advised, as meals and accommodation payments in the huts may not always accept cards.

Inclusions and Exclusions

This guided trek includes accommodation in mountain huts along the route and a final night in a hotel or guesthouse in Vysoké Tatry. A multilingual guide will accompany the group, providing assistance and regional insights. All necessary transfers are covered, including transport from Krakow to the Tatras and back, with an option for drop-off in Poprad for those continuing their journey in Slovakia. Meals are not included, but breakfast and dinner can be purchased at the huts. Hikers should bring snacks for the trail. Main luggage can be left at the starting point, as only a small backpack with daily essentials will be carried during the trek. Luggage transportation is not included, so participants must pack accordingly. The tour price does not cover personal expenses, extra activities, or travel insurance, which travellers should arrange independently.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in mountain huts along the trekking route, offering dormitory-style lodging with shared facilities. These huts provide a simple but comfortable stay, with food and drinks available for purchase. The final night is spent in a guesthouse in Vysoké Tatry, offering a more comfortable setting before departure. Mountain huts have bunk-style sleeping arrangements, and single supplements are not available. Due to the remote nature of the trek, alternative lodging is not possible.
